Uxía, the voice of the Atlantic

Emotion and musical experimentation are the two constants of my life.

The contact with and the learning from other cultures mark my career that has stretched for over 20 years now. Galicia and her immense artistic wealth, her female voices and our poetry have accompanied me in my work ever since I started. This tradition grows as it encounters Portuguese, Brazilian and African territories to yield a diverse, intimate, warm and fresh sound where I recognise myself.

Looking into the Atlantic is a horizon that speaks to me so that I can express myself louder and clearer. That sea that unites us brings back and forth musics in an eternal sailing of feelings. I offer then my voice as an instrument that cannot lie, and disembark at ports of hope, love and lovelessness, commitment, tenderness and joy in a synthesis of vital restlessness.
